Nicholas Evans was enrolled in a very small Karate school in Palmetto, FL in the mid 1980s. for about one year. After this he went on to study other martial arts such as Kung Fu in Bradenton (the school still exists to this day), Judo, and WuShu. Eventually, Mr. Evans was enrolled in "Sung Cho's Tae Kwon Do" under the instruction of KwanJangNim (Grand Master) Sung Whan Cho of Sarasota, and SaBamNim Tony M. Yates of Bradenton. Mr. Evans was awarded his 1st Dan black belt on Jan 22nd 1994. Mr. Evans continued his education with Sung Cho's Tae Kwon Do until it was turned into the "Gold Dragon Tae Kwon Do". The Gold Dragon was eventually sold, and change into "American Freestyle Martial Arts" - before it was closed a few months later.
Mr. Evans enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1998, and attended basic combat training at Fort Sill, OK. He was also stationed and trained at other U.S. Army bases such as:
Camp Blanding, FL
Fort Bliss, TX (3 stations)
Fort Benning, GA
Fort Stewart, GA (2 stations)
Mac Dill AFB, FL
RedStone Arsenal, AL
During his time in the Army he was educated in M.M.A. (Military Martial Arts), close combat, urban fighting techniques, infantry tactics and hand-to-hand combat. Upon returning home, Mr. Evans, joined the police force with the Bradenton Police Dept. where he was educated in defensive tactics and advanced ground fighting techniques. Mr. Evans served as a Bradenton Police Officer for 3 years. During this time he was able to employ his martial arts training to subdue combative arrestees. All of his knowledge and skills are brought to our studio along with the core traditional teachings of Tae Kwon Do, direct from South Korea. Most of these extreme skills are instructed to students as they progress in the ranks - starting with the basics. As students display knowledge and control of the skills, the students are instructed on the more advanced techniques..
Mr. Evans has always had a love of Martial Arts, more especially Tae Kwon Do, and enjoys teaching and passing on the skills to the next generation of artists. Each student that is instructed is given a building block to improve their own future.
Mr. Evans is currently a 4th Dan in Tae Kwon Do.
